Christmas Party OOTD

Around this time of year there are always lots of parties. Old friends meet up to celebrate the year and you pretty much can’t go out for dinner without sharing the restaurant with raucous work parties.

I had my work Christmas party a week or so ago, lots of fun was had which involved cocktails, spicy food and beer mats. I found a suitably sparkly dress to celebrate the festive season.

Last month, a friend on Instagram posted a sparkly outfit wishlist, I was immediately drawn to the most beautiful dress that I had to have!

Joanie Clothing say this about themselves:

We’re Joanie! A new and unique womenswear brand with fun, flirtation and femininity at its heart. We’re passionate about making beautiful clothes, lovingly fashioned with a pinch of playfulness, a splash of quirkiness and a healthy dose of nostalgia. Whatever the occasion, our girl exudes an undeniable, effortlessly cool aesthetic and stands out from the crowd without making noise.

Believing that our look is for every body, Joanie’s pieces are always available in sizes 8-22. We are inclusive, not exclusive and celebrate individuals who know their own style; bringing them together as a united community where everyone is welcome.

My new dress was the first thing I’ve ever purchased from Joanie Clothing and I have to say that there are a few more things I have my eye on!

My beautiful rose gold sequin dress was on sale (so clearly, it was meant to be and fate was working in my favour that day). It arrived incredibly quickly in pretty packaging.

The dress is sleeveless with a v-neck front and back. It also has a lovely satin pink lining and is absolutely covered in teeny, tiny rose gold sequins.

It zips at the back. I ordered a size 14 and it fits perfectly, which I was very pleased with espcecially considering my boobs are on the big side.

As it was freezing (and also because my legs are hideous), I wore some thick black tights, plain black ankle boots and a black leather jacket with a fur trim collar.

I’d had my hair recoloured in the morning and they’d curled it for me so my hair was good to go!

All in all, I loved this dress. It was beautiful and sparkly and I felt a bit like a princess. The dress was super heavy to hold, but once I had it on I didn’t notice the weight so much. My only issue is that the sequins on the dress shredded my arms up and the inside of my upper arms were pretty red and sore the next day! However, I say it’s totally worth the pain!

Also, in case you were wondering if a dress this sparkly would go with a beard? I can confidently confirm it does.
